LABOUR SENATORS MOTION ON SUPPORTS FOR SMALL BUSINESS TO BE DEBATED TODAY
Today Wednesday 28thMarch from 4.30-6.30pm, the Labour Senators' Group will be proposing amotion on the need for supports for small business and the self-employed.
The Labour Senators, led by SenatorsDenis Landy and John Gilroy, are proposing important supports for thosewho are self-employed or running small businesses, many of whom are currentlyexperiencing serious financial difficulties. The measures proposed includeopening up the rules on tender and procurement to enable a wider rangeof firms and businesses to seek public contracts; and enabling companydirectors to invest money from their private pension funds into their businesses.
Those who will be in attendancefor the debate include Patricia Callan from the Small Firms' Association,Mark Fielding of ISME and representatives of Chambers Ireland. They willall be present in the Seanad Chamber for the duration of the event at theinvitation of the Labour Senators.
