Call For Debate on Repealing the 8th Amendment - Order of Business, Seanad Éireann

Following the fourth annual 'March For Choice' on 26th September 2015 organised by the Abortion Rights Coalition and Repeal the 8th Coalition, which saw thousands of people take to the streets in support of the call to Repeal the 8th Amendment to the Irish Constitution, I called upon the House in the Order of Business to have a debate on the matter. 

'I think there is a growing momentum of people, individually and in groups, who have come out recently in favour of repealing the eighth amendment.  I would like to see us debate in an honest, objective and rational fashion the reality of crisis pregnancy for so many people in Ireland and the need to repeal the eighth amendment.'
