Seanad Election 2020

Posted on March 10, 2020

Dear Supporter,

Thank you for the great ongoing support. I am emailing to update you on the Seanad campaign. Ballot papers have now been sent out by registered post to the approx. 64,000 voters on the Dublin University/Trinity register and must be returned by 11am on Tuesday 31st March – exactly three weeks from today!

Given the Covid-19/Coronavirus situation, Trinity College has just announced cancellation of lectures and certain closures on campus, but the election is proceeding all the same – ballot papers are already being sent back. Indications are that turnout is low so far, and the election will be very tight this time - so if you have not already done so, I am asking you to get at least TEN of your friends/colleagues/family members/acquaintances who are on the Trinity register to vote Number One Ivana.

I would be very grateful indeed if you could pass on the message below about my campaign either by email, text, post, phone call or word of mouth to TEN others over the next few days!

Thank you so much again for your support,

Best wishes,

Dear X,

In the Dublin University (Trinity College) Seanad Elections, I am asking for your Number One vote for my friend Ivana Bacik.

Ivana has a proven track record of campaigning on human rights and equality issues, and she has used her time as a Senator to work hard to achieve real change on a variety of issues. If re-elected, she would continue to work to achieve progressive change on human rights and equality campaigns – she has legislation currently before the Seanad on a number of issues including tackling the gender pay gap and ensuring citizenship rights for children threatened with deportation.

You will see more detail about Ivana’s work on her website at

I am supporting Ivana for the Seanad 2020 election, and I am asking you to support her too.

Ballot papers have been sent out by registered post to all Trinity voters and must be returned by 11am on Tuesday 31st March 2020. The election is proceeding as normal, despite the ongoing Covid-19/Coronavirus situation.

If you are not sure whether you are on the voters’ register for these elections or want to check what address you are registered at, please email Ivana on ivana.bacik@oireachtas.ieand she can check the register for you; or else you can email the Trinity Academic Registry ( directly.

Please give Ivana your No. 1 vote. Thank you!
